280 ackley improved vs 30 06

Mississippi. Dec 23, 2016. #1. I am considering picking up a used .280 AI. I have looked everywhere, and have only found one post regarding barrel life. They stated that barrel life was around 800. That seemed wayyyy off IMO especially since it isn't a magnum round. I'm hoping someone on here could shed some light on this for me.

Keep in mind the Sherman holds 2-3g more powder. I push the 181g Hammer at 3027 FPS and the 180 accubond at 3100 FPS. The Ackley version should get the 168 to 3100fps.
